Handyland - The Book - Part 2 - Information Handyland 
Since 1999, Hartmut Gloger addressed in the series "Handy Land" a now well established means of communication. In many variations of the mobile phone is in its external shape and internal structure, both as to-use object as well as independently acting subject illuminated, and challenged.
A quote from the artist shows his ambivalent attitude:
"Your cell phone goes with you everywhere;
go or you go anywhere with your mobile phone?
Ambivalent, ambiguous words and questioning how the attitude Gloger is the purely formal implementation of the small device in the large-scale mixed media. It appears as a full-length format "Individuals", as in the painting "Handyma" (1999), or as seemingly endlessly reproduced and juxtaposed contours, reminiscent of human footprints in the sand. This image element that conceptually in - almost - seems all the works of the series in one form or another, is combined with a diverse, abstract-expressionist painting. Again, the viewer meets again on opposites. Besides delicate lineaments and glazes, curving at the subject or obscure, appear hard contours and thickly applied areas, which act as the result of a violent attack, an emotional outburst and overwhelm the image object.
to the latest works of the series can fix some meaning shifts. The focus so far was the autonomy of the mobile phone as an almost living being who conquered his world, the mobile country. Now the aforementioned image "Handyma," a species is - from the familiar Christian iconography -
added "Mother and Child Group" of the communication age, the radical opposition. "W @ P II" (2001) shows not only the surface of the present current technical development unmistakably a skull, which is only suggested, can be rapidly detected, but due to individual patterns of perception and should be. The beginning is that the end of a development opposed. Here, the technical object is clearly a symbol for people.
"W @ P II" does not mean the end of the series, but only the minus to plus, and not a prediction of the end of the technical possibilities, but a new status quo. "Information" is the subject of another group of the series "Handy Land", which are formally very different from works like "Handyma" or "WAP II". "Information I - III" (2001) all through a parallel to banding. The ranking of mobile phone contour of uniform acts, using a specially developed paint operations applied, spots of color reflected. The paint is transparent and determined by light tones. The canvas shine through. Only on closer examination it becomes clear that each patch of color at all regularity claimed his individuality.
